MODULE EXAMINATIONS
At the end of each Module there will be a three-hour written short essay exam, with a total of ten questions. When the candidate has completed approximately 70% of the module, the Supervisor sends a request to the Board for the exam. This should take no longer than two weeks to prepare and post.
The Module exam paper is sent, with a marking sheet, to the Supervisor who conducts the exam at his own institute at a time convenient to it. On completion of the exam the Supervisor or nominated specialist (the Supervisor is not expected to be an expert on all topics) marks the paper and notates the result and comments on the marking sheet and returns both to the Board for marking. The Pass mark for these exams is currently 60%. If the Supervisor and Board Examiner marks differ by a significant amount then a third Board or Board Coopted examiner will mark the paper, and the mark will be adjusted accordingly. The Board will then notify the Supervisor of the result and all comments from the Examiners. The whole marking process involves Examiners throughout Australia and New Zealand, and accordingly takes a significant time. It is therefore important that the Candidate and the Supervisor do not leave the examination process entirely to the last few months of the Course. At least four Modules must be completed in the 1st year.
Note: No Exam papers will be issued by the Board after 1st February in the final year. and all exam papers have to be received by the Board no later than 1st March of the final year.
All support of the modules will cease after July 2008
