Call for Abstracts

The Scientific Program Committee invites submission of abstracts for presentation at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand College of Perfusionists at City Hall, Newcastle, New South Wales on October 30th and 31st 2009. Oral presentations may consist of either original investigations of 10 or 20 minutes duration, or case reports of 10 minutes duration (both with 5 minute question time). Selected abstracts may be published in the ANZCP Gazette and the Journal of Extracorporeal Technology. Membership of the College is not a prerequisite to participate in the program and investigators from outside Australia are welcomed, provided the abstract and presentation are in English.

Deadline

All abstracts must be sent in completed format via e-mail no later than 18/09/2009.  Only abstracts submitted prior to the due date will be considered for ANZCP awards and the reduced registration fee.

Format

The abstract must be single spaced typed in Times New Roman 12pt font, to fit A4 dimensions with margins top & bottom 3cm and sides 2.5cm. The title should be brief and clearly indicate the nature of the investigation. Title to be typed in capital letters. Abbreviations should not be used in the title. Complete names of all authors should be typed in upper and lower case, with the presenting author underlined, and institutional affiliation typed in upper and lower case. The body of the abstract should include: A statement of the purpose of the study (preferably one sentence); A statement of the methods used; A summary of the results, presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusion; A statement of the conclusion reached. Abstracts will be deemed as completed upon meeting the above criteria. Statements such as ‘the results of the study will be presented’ should be avoided.Tables or graphs may be included within the body of the abstract. PLEASE NOTEThere will be no written commercial advertisements on the abstract
 form or finished presentation.

Mailing instructions

Abstracts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (abstracts will be reviewed prior to publication) and e-mailed to Ken Gall at Kenneth.Gall@hnehealth.nsw.gov.au.  In addition, please complete and post or email the Abstract Submission Form. All presentations should be in Microsoft Powerpoint format. Presentations should be either mailed on a CD, or sent to Ken Gall at the above  e-mail address prior to the meeting.
