Tourist Note:This years meeting
was timed to occur at one of the
busiest times in Melbourne's social calendar, Melbourne Cup week. The
Melbourne Cup is always run on the first Tuesday in November, therefore
Tuesday 6th is Cup day for 2001. It is a day when Melbourne and indeed
all of Australia stop to watch the running of the premiere horse race in
Australasia. Thursday 8th of
November is "Oaks day" or ladies day at the races. Visitors
to Melbourne should take the opportunity to participate in the Melbourne's
famous Spring Racing carnival.
